Working hard to get the Flickers to stay

We moved to Colorado Springs and have worked hard to encourage birds to visit us. To our suprise we had some male Northern Flickers show up one day this past Spring and we've succeeded in having one pretty much claim our yard as his own and he patrols and guards the feeders all day.
We put out oil sunflower seed, suet and water year round. We also replaced all the rock with mulch and he now has greater access to ants and bugs in our yard as compared to our neighbors that have all rock.
We've also seen a female so we're putting up a house in hopes that they will nest in our yard. We enjoy watching him putter about the yard. Of course he is getting a bit brazen by pecking on the pergola roof but he's worth it.
