Woodpecker???

by Amy
(Rochester, NY, USA)

I live near Rochester, NY. I have this bird in my backyard (see 2 photos). I think it might be some sort of woodpecker.

I have seen it diving into the shallow creek behind my house to get water/bugs. It is black, white and brownish-red, with speckles under it's wings/tail feathers (?)

Any help identifying would be appreciated.

Comment
I believe it is a Belted Kingfisher.
