Male & female Goldfinches at thistle feeder

This is my favorite time of year for backyard birding! The trees are all in their fall colors, our ash tree is covered with bright red berries that attract many different birds like a magnet.

A few days ago I also put out a thistle feeder to see what it would attract. And of course, American Goldfinches were the first ones to come. They are now in their winter plumage that looks quite different from their bright yellow summer attire.

Now I keep my camera by the window to capture my feathered visitors.
