A bird with a white head, size of big robin, though not as "fat". The feathers on head were standing up in a mohawk fashion. Light gray underbelly, brownish body....looked like a baby eagle.

I have identified the yellow shafted flicker in my backyard . We have several of them feeding on the lawn. It looks like they are pulling out grubs.
