by Nicholas
(Jefferson County, Northern New York)

I live in Northern New York. A few days ago I was kayaking on a lake when all of a sudden I see a white bird, (looks like a seagull) but has a narrow orange beak and makes circles above then dives into the water at full speed to catch fish.

Characteristics -

- All white

- Body of a seagull

- Looks like a seagull

- Narrow, orange beak

- Circles above the lake and dives at full speed into the water to bring up a fish

We live in Eastern Ontario, Canada on the big rideau lake and we have sited the same sort of gull and have never seen such a bird in all the 35 years we've been here. What is it? And where did it migrate from?
