Where Are The Hummingbirds?

by Sue
(Galloway, New Jersey)

I live in south Jersey and so far haven't seen any hummingbirds. Can you tell me why they are so late? We have had a lot of rain and some cool days.

Hi Sue;
You have given the answer. The migration season is very dependent on the weather. Hummingbirds come north to eat the nectar from flowers. If it's rainy and cool, there will be very little for the hummers to eat. When the weather warms up, your hummingbirds should arrive.

No hummers in Midwest or Wisconsin

I have feeders in Illinois and Wisconsin and we are experiencing an absence of hummingbirds in both locations. Can anyone confirm why? This has never happened before.
