What's like a sparrow but smaller?


(New Braintree, MA)

they're very small but similar in coloring to a sparrow. They seem to prefer the seeds on the ground to the feeders. We are in central MA.

Finches ?

My finches are smaller than my sparrows; so they may be present in your yard, too. Both are seed-eating birds.

Chipping Sparrow ?

Chipping Sparrow is smaller than house sparrow, and with almost the same color. If you find there are some red color on the top of its head, then that is it!
