I only see this one at night and I can walk right up to it and it does not move but if you move the branch it will move its mouth but nothing comes out I have never see this bird and cant figure it out.

I have identified the yellow shafted flicker in my backyard . We have several of them feeding on the lawn. It looks like they are pulling out grubs.
