what kind of bird is this?

To Anyone that might know,

I live in south Florida on a lake. I saw a grey bird with a black cap head and white throat. It was flying over the lake making an almost motor sounding noise. Wasn't much bigger than a Blue Jay. Fairly long beak. Never saw or heard a bird like this.
Does anyone know what kind of bird this was?

Thanks,
Little Chickadee
