What kind of bird did I see ?

by Karin
(California)

In the Sacramento area a larger size bird like a very plump robin. Somehow seemed like a young bird. A long, fairly straight beak, beige color. Light cream/beige chest with deeper spreckles, slightly darker beige spreckled back and wing feathers edged in darker brown. Tail light brown not very long. Bright red/orange swatch on each cheek and black shield on upper chest.
