What is this bird?

(Rome, GA)

This bird has been spotted all around our home. The photo was captured on security cameras. Any idea what kind of bird would help us.

Hawk.

I am in Texas and your pic looks similar to what we call a chicken hawk but do not know the correct name. They are frequently seen around houses hunting moles, gophers, mice and yes they will get young chickens or other birds.

Thanks for all the input. We have thought of both these birds and have elimated the Night Hawk due to the size and physical appearence in other photos. Thank you all!

It is hard to see detail or accurately estimate size from these photos, but you might check out photos online of red-shouldered hawks. They are in your area and from a distance the white on their wings would approximate what shows in your security shots. It looks like there might be a somewhat different color on the shoulders too, which there would be on a red-shouldered hawk.
