What Is This Bird?

by Linda Mitchell
(East Wallingford, VT, USA)

We are in Central Vermont and have a bird that we have not seen before.

It is about 6-7 inches long with a grey body and wings with a white head
and charcoal colored stripe from it's (long) beak to the back of it's head.
We have seen him twice but not long enough to get a picture.
