Looks like a commercial photograph NEW
by: GaryE

Well I thought that bird looked familiar but I could not find it in any of my bird books . . . so I tried the next best thing . . . google search by image.

It seems that this is a picture from a famous photographer named John Soong from Taiwan. But I am less than certain. I found the exact same photograph here: http://www.mumbairock.com/profiles/blogs/colorfull-birds

Which led me to another picture of the same bird which I found here: http://fuckyeahbeautifulbirds.tumblr.com/ where the picture is attributed to John Soong from Taiwan.

So I do not know what is going on but it seems it is an Asian bird and not native to North American from what little I have been able to find.

So if you saw it in your backyard either you saw a released pet Asian bird in North Carolina or Mr. Soong saw a released pet North American bird in Taiwan. LOL

I know it is not be exactly the help you are looking for but this info might help.

The bottom line is that I would try to find an Asian bird site or Asian bird book and go from there.

Beautiful little bird

Looks like it might be in the same family as the
Boreal Chickadee.
