We have a brewers black bird that comes to our bird bath for a good drink. We started to notice that this bird was depositing something into the water before it took a drink.
In checking the bird bath, it was a white and speck of black sack like thing. I'm not sure and why it is bringing it to the bird bath,it does this nearly every time it visits.
CommentAs only soft, small material can pass through the small intestine of a bird, many birds form pellets of non-digestive parts of their diet, which are regurgitated. That's what he is likely depositing in your birdbath, and then helping himself to a cool, refreshing drink.
Happy Birding!
