WHAT IS IT ?

This bird visited my bird feeder today but spooked and flew away. The birds body was the size and shape of a cardinal but slightly larger. the head had a very bright orange Mohawk easily seen,the head was contrasting darker, the body had very wide evenly spaced black and white stripes which were horizontal along its body when perched on the Shepards hook holding the bird feeder. Had it not spooked I could have taken a picture of it.
