What bird is this?

Bird about the size and shape of a starling, but with dark gray or black upper body, and medium grey belly, russet underneath tail wing next to body. Have not seen this bird before. Found it dead in back yard.

The bird you are describing would seem to fit
the description of a catbird.

If you google images of catbirds you will see a bird with black upper markings and with light gray lower body with reddish brown markings below its tail.
