West Virginia Hawk

by Lauren
(West Virginia)

I saw a hawk of some sort at my grandmother's house yesterday (3/17/2015), but I have no idea what kind it was. I couldn't get a picture - it just swooped overhead and kept on going - but the angle let me get a pretty good look at it. It had a plain brown or buff chest, and its wings were light on the underside and dark grey with white speckles on the topside. Because it was flying towards me I didn't get such a good look at its back or tail, but I don't think it was a Red-Tailed Hawk.
