Very protective mother bird

by Valerie
(Texas)

We spotted a very pretty light grey and dark grey bird. When we go outside she comes in plain sight right away and stars at us. When i went outside to take my dog she came out and flew very close i moved and she followed me. Next time my mother went outside to take dog and the bird was there again this time the bird flew down close enough to hit her in back of head! We spotted a nest in a near by tree. what kind of bird is this? is she just protecting her babies?

A Cat bird or Mockinging bird perhaps?
by: Shirl Abrahamson

Sounds like a Catbird or also known as a Mockingbird. They are very protective and will act like that if a nest is near. Hope this helps.
