Unknown Bird

A flock of 4 or 5 of these birds showed up in my backyard to take a bath in our waterfall. Then they left.. never to be seen again. They had a distictive black eye mask, black bill, very spotted front and head (whitish chest, brown spots) the back of the bird was brown. They were robin sized or a bit bigger. They had a loud high call. My husband thinks he saw some yellow on one of them but I did not see this. They really seemed to enjoy the water and probably the only reason they stopped. I have been watching birds in my backyard for years and never have seen these before. Any ideas?
