Unknown Bird

by Mike Baker
(Xenia, Ohio, USA)

I spotted this little fellow on top of the back yard feeder. He did'nt stick around for long and I was only able to capture this one shot. I live in SW Ohio and don't recall ever seeing this color pattern. Is it some kind of sparrow? I'm new to birding and I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks, Mike B., Xenia, Oh.

This looks to be an adult female non breeding goldfinch. We have a lot of finches in our yard. They like nyjer seed best.
