Two Yellow Spots

by Vicki Hahn
(Eureka, Montana, USA)

I was in Eureka, Montana, last week and saw a little grey bird (about 4" long) jumping from branch to branch flashing its tail, which had two bright yellow oval spots on it when it was fanned. Really cute and can't find anything in the bird books. Sorry, I didn't take a picture. Looking through the bird book, it looked kind of like the warblers I see there, though maybe smaller.

Gray Warbler like bird
by: J. R.

I saw a very similar sounding bird in Northern Westchester County, NY state last week. It was a small, warbler-like gray passerine with yellow spots on the sides of its rump or tail. it was flitting around the feeder but seemed intimidated by the many titmice, nuthatches and chickadees. It was significantly smaller than these.
