Thought it was a robin but not

Fledgling. Dark with white speckles on top. Orange and black breast but has slender back beak. It's about the size of fledgling robin. Cannot find mother either.

Great NEW

Hope your bird makes it. You didn't say it was injured in your initial post, just that you couldn't see/find the mother, or I would have suggested an intervention. It's all good though and good luck.

Thought it was a robin NEW
by: Diane

I brought the bird to a local nature preserve. Rehabilitator stated it was a robin. The robin had a fractured left leg and could not walk. It had been on ground for long time since tail feathers were mangled. They will keep to see it it can eventually fly and eat on its own. In this case, I am glad I intervened because it would not have made it with cats and racoons in the area. Will check later today to see if the little guy made it.

I Think It IS A Robin NEW
by: Anonymous

It probably is a baby Robin, especially at this time of the year. Don't move it unless it's in harm's way, then just set it off to the side safely from where it was. The parent's know where the fledglings are hiding, they do communicate. It's always best to let Mother Nature handle the situation since young birds are very difficult to raise. Try to not interfere, be patient, and say a little prayer. It should be fine. The fact that you care speaks volumes about the sensitive person that you are. Good luck!
