The bird world is so fascinating. Interesting that the cardinals do not migrate, though their cousins the grosbeaks do. The Cardinals can live upon the weed seeds and buds of trees and bushes in winter as comfortably as upon insects in summer.
How nice for us that they're not too particular!
Few lady birds sing - but the female cardinal is a charming singer with a softer voice than her mate's, and an individual song quite different from his loud, clear whistle.

You are so lucky to have these gorgeous birds in your area. We are in Saskatchewan Canada and never will see any here......when we saw a bluebird a few years ago, I had goosebumps.
