Tame bird in our backyard in Oakville Ontario

by Alison
(Oakville, Ontario)

This bird has taken up residence in our backyard. It is tame. It does not fly away when it is approached, and just seems to want to hang out with the humans. Not afraid of the dog either. Have not tried to pick it up, but I am within 4 inches when feeding it. Beautiful white bird with some grey spots. I wondered if it is a pigeon or dove, but it seems too tame. Can anyone help identify it please? Thx.

White Dove
by: Mary

I checked out pictures and it does look like a white dove and they say they resemble pigeons...
I, too, would try and see if the bird will come to your hand. Very good pictures.

I think it's a Dove and thats great you can get close to it I would hold my finger out and say step up to see if it will.
