Suet Cookies

by Becky

3/4 cup rendered suet
2 cups white flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup mixed wild bird seed
1/8 cup chopped peanuts
1/8 cup raisins

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cream the suet. Sift flour and sugar together, add peanuts, raisins, and seed, then stir into the fat. Add 1 tablespoon of milk or water if it won't hold together. On an ungreased cookie sheet, press the dough to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. Bake until light brown. Cool on the pan. You can serve these cookies in a mesh onion bag or a suet cage, or crumble and scatter on the ground or place them on the ground whole. Expect to see chickadees, titmice, nuthatches, woodpeckers, and many others. Enjoy!
