Strange Egg Found

Today when I was in my backyard, I found an entire clutch of eggs just laying in the grass! They are a very pale blue with a few black spots on the blunt end. I have looked at pictures and believe they are from a House Finch(?). Please let me know if anyone has any ideas what they are from, and how they ended up laying in the grass. There was no nest laying nearby, and the eggs were each a few feet apart. None were broken, though. There were four (that I found).
