We have a new bird that is ground feeder. It has a rust-colored head and a solid dark gray body. It's a little larger than a titmouse. Can't find it in my bird book. Any ideas what it could be. Contact me. My email is maryoniel10@gmail.com

Hi Steve,

I'm sorry no one has given ou an ID on your bird and I guessing that's because they don't know what it is and due to the holidays haven't had time to look. I have searched briefly and can't find it either.

Here on some sites you can look at for yourself:
1. AllAboutBirds.org

2. http://animals.nationalgeographic.co/animals/ birding/backyard-bird-identifier

3. http://pick18.pick.uga.edu/mp/20q?act=new_host&guide=Birds

3. This is not the best but it is worth a try if the others aren't of any help.
http://whatbird.com/

Type a short description of the bird and ask what it is in the address bar of your search browser and then click on one of these when the suggested sites come up.

You can also call your local Audubon Society and ask them.

Have fun with the birding this new year, and make it a happy one!
