solid gray bird in my backyard

I have seen a solid gray bird with a black stripe going down the top of its head. It's approximately the size of a mocking bird or robin. I am in central Florida. I have been unable to catch a photo of it.

Sounds like you have a grey catbird! NEW

It sounds like you have a grey Catbird to me (check out http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/gray_catbird/id ). They are very very common where I live in the summer they do winter as far south as Florida but they are only around in the winter there. So if you saw this bird at any other time of the year I am certainly wrong. LOL

I am almost certain this is what you are seeing . . . my wife and I always want to call them mockingbirds at first glance so that is what tipped me off.
