Small grey bird with red triangle on top of head in Redding CA

by Rex and Janel
(Redding, CA)

On Dec 25 pm a small bird appeared at our front porch (huddled in the corner) It is small gray bird with a red triangle on top of its head. It comes back every night. We have seen it fly away and does not appear to be injured. We Ilive in Redding CA and our days are usually around 40-50 degrees and nights are 30-40 degrees. Please help us identify this bird and behavior.

Thank you

Would love to know what sort of bird this is! Very friendly and if a bird could be described to be "happy" in bad weather, its this little guy!

There's a pair of these sweet birds with us, as well. NEW

So happy to see this little one pictured here.
We just rid ourselves of our lawns, and put in a sustainable landscape. About a month ago this little fellow and his mate showed up. Never been here before. They approach nearly each time I come outside. They bring such joy with them!

This bird with its distinctive red crown on its head and olive to grey body color would appear to be a Ruby Crowned Kinglet.
