small charcoal black head yellow beak bird

they built a nest in my pot of ivy plant. there was four eggs and either the Mother or Father bird with sit on it but fly away when we came to look at. We did not touch or get too close to eggs. The nest is perfectly round and built with twigs. Now the eggs hatched (they were white with brown speckled small eggs) and have four brown baby birds in it.

Now both parents are back feeding the baby birds.
Can you identify this backyard bird. I live in the woodland area of Glendale California.
Thank you
