Please identify a bird:

5" long, black head, yellow breast, green back, grey and white wings muddled wings, clinging to a brick wall, eating tiny bugs

Lesser Goldfinch?

Doreen, I looked in my bird book and your description sounds like Lesser Goldfinch that are found in the Southwest. There are 2 varieties of them; one is green-backed and the other is black-backed. They are 4.5" long. Look it up and let us know if that's the one.
