Similar to a red-winged blackbird

We saw a bird about the size of a red-winged blackbird at the feeder. Instead of the red and yellow should/wing patch of a male, this bird had a distinct tan band about a quarter of the way down the wing. No clues as to which bird it is. Bird coloring was dark brown/black.

I looked up the cowbird. Unless this bird has a distinctly tan horizontal bar just past the shoulder, it's not the bird. Haven't seen it since either.

How did it compare to...

How did it compare to a Brown Headed Cowbird or a Bronzed Cowbird. I'm confused about the brown and black coloring. Did you notice its eye color or beak color/shape? Sounds intriguing!
