Sandy in Colorado

by Sandy
(Montrose, Colorado )

Late afternoon, we are watching an “easily identifiable” red-shafted Northern Flicker in our backyard. After reading about them we realize he was pecking ants out of the lawn. Beautiful bird - we were able to watch with binoculars for quite a while. The habitat around our yard is bushy with large cottonwood trees. Currently no snow on the ground!
