Safflower Seeds

by Patrick V. E.
(Germantown, Wi.)

I have 3 pairs of Rose Breasted Grosbeaks visit my tray feeder usually 3 times a day. Usually mid morning, mid afternoon, then just before dark. The male comes first followed by the female, they feed about 3-5 minutes per visit. The feeder is 3 feed from my den window. While the Purple Finches scatter when I near the window the Grosbeaks do not move. The safflower seeds also attract Cardinals, Chickadees and Nuthatches.
