Rural Girl

I keep seeing a grayish bird around our Saint Hedwig home. It is very elusive and makes a clucking sound. It is very similar to a mocking bird in size and color. I used to think it was the call of a road runner as when I would hear it I would always see our nesting roadrunners. Any suggestions?
