Rose Breasted Grosbeaks in SW Louisiana

by C Frederick
(SW Louisiana)

I was about to start my late afternoon plant watering when I first spotted a handsome male. I stopped and called my husband over and tried to figure out what type bird he was. My husband tried to get a picture of him hiding behind our well since the bird feederwas on the other side. He got close but only blind shots with no bird and he flew off.

I didnt expect him to return as I had spotted a Indigo Bunting the other day for the first time and he never returned. Well, to my surprise he did!!! Along with a female. They sat for awhile enjoying the bird feed and even managed to block out a couple Cardinals. I got some great shots with a zoom and also sneaking up behind the well and taking a couple with my phone. Very beautiful bird!!!
