Rose breasted Grosbeak

by Donna Hill
(Arkansas)

I first thought a pet parrot was loose. I'd never seen such a beautiful bird. After much research, I identified the male it took me even longer to spot the female

At least 6 pair fed from my seed feeder. They also chowed down on peanut butter and seed feeder. They cleaned out the feeders every couple of days.
Yesterday I refilled all 6 feeders and stocked up on more food. Today,May 5, not one appeared. After entertaining us for weeks they left without a tweet! But it was a joyful spring!

They will probably be back. The ones we see are gone a couple of days, then come back for more feed. I have not tried the peanut butter...They are beautiful birds as are the blue Grosbeaks.
