spotted this bird 3 or 4 times now, tried to get closer to take photo but the two I have downloaded are the best I have got. can anyone tell me what it is? the only bird in the books I have that it looks like is a lesser kestrel is that possible?

Ron, I'd say that's an excellent observation. Based on the shape of the tip of the tail feathers and the black markings on it, along wth the size, and color markings it would have to be the lesser kestrel. nice job!
