Resembles a Robin but is not

by Rita C Sather

This bird visited our backyard today, Mar 01, 2012. At first I thought it was a Robin. There were Robins in the yard also. I have never seen one that looks like this one. It was close in size of a mature Robin also.

Comment(/B)
It is the robin's cousin, a Varied Thrush. Nice photo.

Judy I will have to make sure to listen to it's song. I am always asking my husband "What bird do you think is singing?" ...Now I am curious...!

Varied Thrush call
by: Judy-Seattle

Rita, as you do your research on the Varied Thrush, look up its call on www.enature.com. It has a really weird song that I had been hearing for years in early spring but never new what it was.
