Red-Bellied Woodpecker Visitor

by Amanda
(Lebanon, MO)

I have a red-bellied woodpecker who has been visiting every morning around 7:00 and every afternoon around 3:00 pm. I have only a small feeder hanging in a tree. He likes to hang upside down from the branch above the feeder and eat the seeds. I got him a suet feeder, affixing it to the tree trunk, but he still prefers to hang upside down above the little feeder. Last summer I saw a red-bellied wood pecker drinking from my hummingbird feeder on a few occassions and I wonder if it was the same bird. We live in a suburban area surrounded by a large rural spaces.
