Red Breasted Grosbeaks at feeders this Fall in Georgia

by Leslie Garrett
(Acworth, GA)

For the past month I have had 4 Rose Breasted Grosbeaks continually feeding at my feeders. I live north of Atlanta and this is early Fall. I keep thinking they will leave at any time to migrate south. I read this morning that sometimes they stay the winter in Georgia. I hope so, but also hope that the winter won't be too harsh!

The 4 that I am seeing are 2 immature males and 2 females. They love a premium mix of seeds that I put out and will occasionally feed on my black oil sunflower seed feeder.

I'm excited to see these feathered friends and look forward to seeing the beautiful mature males for the first time!
