Red breasted Grosbeak in our yard in Bethel Ohio

We always put out Black Oil sunflower seeds in our feeders year round.

This winter I left my empty flower pots hanging on hooks,
We started sprinkling the seed in those as well.
to our delight they attracted many ground feeders .
On 4/ 27/17 I spotted my first Rose Breasted Grosbeak
Sitting in one of the planters eating seed.
We have now seen up to 5 at a time together feeding on the ground and in the hanging planters .
We have an enclosed viewing area on the deck close to the feeders where we can sit privately an watch them up close. The challenge now is to see who can capture the best photos !

I also spotted this bird. black seed also. Had to go to the internet to find it. The colors were so vibrant. Still not as beautiful as on the internet as my first sighting. April 29 th Longview Texas. This guy wasn,t afraid to give the squirrels a what for. the bill just doesn't fit in my mind. Still searching .
