Red Bird

I would like to find out what type of bird this is. I am not sure but I thought it was a house finch though I don't think that's right.

Karen I believe that is a White-winged Crossbill. They feed in larch, spruce and hemlock trees. They will also come to feeders - especially in winter.

Found pecking at the ground. What stood out the most was its white beak with a horizontAL stripe of yellow. Its body was black and white flecks.

We moved last year from Nashville to 20 miles west of the city. Was delighted to have 3 rose breasted grosbeaks at our feeder the other day (Apr 20, 2018)
