Hi everyone. I get these great woodpeckers ever year. We alway have multiple feeders out with just black oil sunflower seeds. Every so often we put out suet. I love when they show up. It means spring has truly begun.

Red-bellied woodpeckers
by: Ina

I have a pair of Red-bellied woodpeckers just outside one of my windows. I have watched them make the hole for the nest (which may have partly already been there and I just never noticed),I have watched them toss the shavings from the hole, I have watched them take turns setting on what I hoped was eggs, I prayed them through a very close call with a tornado this past Wednesday and today I watched them both taking bugs into the hole; which means , I hope, that we have Red-bellied woodpeckers babies!!!!!
It is truly amazing to have been able to watch this amazing event. I cannot wait to see baby woodpeckers sticking their little heads out of that hole.
I cannot venture to guess how many pictures I have taken of those two woodpeckers.
