Red bellied woodpeckers at my feeder

by June Stamps
(Montgomery, Texas)

I have a pair of resident red bellied woodpeckers that visit my squirrel-proof feeder filled with black oil sunflower seed.

They usually announce their coming and other birds scatter. They are King/queen of the feeder. They visit and are never far away from the feeder and know to hang on even when it is not easy.
Beautiful birds and I enjoy watching them.
Strange bird...even drill in the top of our wood fence. And I once saw him trying to drill into our rain gutter!
Always entertaining!
