Question regarding what kind of bird we have in out backyard.

by Mary
(Minnesota)

This morning, for the first time, I saw a bird the size of a robin...This bird has a brown head and black body. It wasn't with any other birds of that kind. The bird went to the feeder for a couple of minutes and then flew to the ground to feed under the feeder.

Would anyone know what kind of bird this would be? I wasn't able to get a camera out in time for a picture.
Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Mary. The only bird I know that fits that description eactly is the male Cowbird. The female looks quite different. She is smaller and a plain gray-brown color.
