predatory bird

I live in Northeast Iowa. This bird is hunting small birds in the area (we have a prime spot as the neighbor feeds birds) I watched this bird eat a sparrow this morning. It's dark on the back with some white spots, and white/lt. brown striped on the breast. What kind of bird is this?

I think your right. After looking at several pics he looks like a coopers hawk. Their main diet is small birds. But he's an awesome bird.

After some research, I'm thinking this is a Coopers hawk.
