Pleated woodpecker in tree outside of house

by Kathy
(Mt. Horeb, ,WI, USA)

Our duplex is on a wooded lot in the town of Mount Horeb, Wi in Dane County. On 03 Feb 2013 , we saw a woodpecker working on a half dead box elder tree. The hole is pretty small, so he hasn't been working on it very long. We have water and some bird feed on a table, but we don't really feed birds. It was a very nice siting since the tree is just outside our window.
