Please settle a mild disagreement

On Sunday, October 20th, my daughter took this picture with her cell phone. Her husband says it is some kind of hawk. I say phooey, it's a roadrunner. The prey is a young dove and when my daughter approached, the bird flew off very low to the ground prey in tow. Please help. Sorry about the resolution.

Cant see very clearly but profile does look like a young roadrunner. They are meat eaters and do catch small birds, mice ect.

hawk or roadrunner?

Looks like a kestrel falcon to me, possibly sparrowhawk. Are roadrunners birds of prey?
