(Virginia Beach, Va. USA)
The bird in question is a robin size bird with a red body and a blue head. The red is the color of a cardinal, however, this bird is larger and chunkier than a cardinal and the complete head is blue. It would almost appear that he stuck his head in an inkwell. He/she first appeared in the yard last year and has just returned again this year.

Found pecking at the ground. What stood out the most was its white beak with a horizontAL stripe of yellow. Its body was black and white flecks.

We moved last year from Nashville to 20 miles west of the city. Was delighted to have 3 rose breasted grosbeaks at our feeder the other day (Apr 20, 2018)
